Collection of stone and berry fruits

The harvest of strawberries, apricots and cherries of early and later varieties is still in progress. It is best to use them raw, cherry tincture or jam. When preparing drupe tinctures, remember to remove some of the seeds due to the amygdalin contained in them. Be careful of brown rot of stone fruit - it is dangerous and spreads quickly. If heavy rains have occurred, the disease is to be expected to get worse. To prevent this, you can use ecological sprays based on horsetail, yarrow extract or horseradish leaves. If you can't count on a large strawberry harvest, check how to distinguish domestic strawberries from foreign ones when buying!

Cutting fruit trees

After the fruit harvest is completely finished, a modeling and shining cut should be made. In this way, we will strengthen the trees and provide them with better sunlight. We shorten the top and remove dried and old branches. Trees that have been previously trimmed incorrectly may be at a higher risk of any injuries and branch sagging. We make supports that will strengthen the structure of the entire tree, especially in apple and pear trees, where the tree crowns are branchy. How to cut all fruit trees? It is enough to do this regularly to prevent fruiting problem later.

Cutting bushes

After harvesting the raspberries, prune the already fruiting shoots. New, emerging ones should be attached so that they can climb freely without the risk of damaging other branches. We make a summer cut of the vine, which helps to thin the bush a bit and bring the sun's rays to the nooks and crannies. We also cut off the leaves that cover too much the emerging seedlings of the fruit. In the case of currants, a rejuvenating cut should be made in summer to strengthen the plant. Old, woody shoots lying on the bushes should be pruned with a pruner and the plant is thinning.

Fighting pests of fruit trees and shrubs

During this time we can expect ants, leaf beetles and aphids. We will get rid of the latter with an ecological solution of nettle and horsetail, commonly known as vegetable slurry. The smell is not the most pleasant, but the effectiveness is surprising. We can also support the solution with celandine manure, which has a similar anti-pest effect.

Brassica pests and nightshades

We have to look closely at potatoes, cabbage and tomatoes. Especially the latter can be exposed to the transferred potato blight. Be careful with red cream and the ubiquitous snails. The latter may appear most often after heavy rains - then we can count on the rash of giant pomegranate. the strongest and most effective trap is the bowl of beer, which effectively lures and melts it.

Method of watering plants

The best way to harden plants and prepare them for possible droughts is with proper watering to help them survive this difficult period. We use the tactic of less frequent and more abundant watering. This way we can be sure that the water will get through the slightly hardened soil to the deeper layers of the soil and the roots. This will allow water to be stored and provide better resistance to the plants. By limiting water consumption in the garden or on the plot, we can equip ourselves with barrels and containers to collect rainwater during seasonal downpours. The rainwater is slightly acidic and rich in nutrients. More importantly, it is chlorine-free and soft - especially recommended for watering rhododendrons and azaleas.

Lawn care

Lawn care starts in early spring until fall. It is a full-time job - it must be properly fertilized, mowed and watered. The latter, especially during drought, to protect the turf from excessive drying and the formation of dry, bald patches of earth. You should also remove moss, weeds and any debris that leads to empty areas.Summer lawn care should also be based on the removal of plants that can take up a significant amount of water and thus weaken the condition of the lawn.
