Ready-made plastic ponds are produced in various shapes and sizes. The most popular are small polyethylene tanks. We trace their shape on the ground so that the form is best suited to the excavation. The final depth of the excavation should be approx. 10 centimeters deeper than the height of the form, and this space will be filled with sand. The soil at the bottom of the excavation should be leveled and compacted.
Carefully let the mold into the trench, fill it to 1/3 with water and level it. Fill the space between the form and the ground with sand and pour water over it. Plastic ponds have ready-made shelves and pockets on which we place plants in pots or openwork baskets. The edges of such tanks are made of stones or gravel of various sizes. When planting is ready, fill the tank to the brim with water.
We clean the tank
The area around the pond should be regularly cleaned of plant residues. Every few years, we carry out a thorough cleaning of the tank from silt and other organic pollutants. A special vacuum cleaner can be used for this purpose.
We refill the water level
We systematically add water, which is lost in the pond due to evaporation.
We fight weeds
We weed the beds around the pond or pond on a regular basis. The safest way is to use traditional methods of fighting weeds, such as hoeing, weeding and mulching.
We supply plants outside the pond
We fertilize only those plants that grow outside the pond. Plants in the pond, both in the marsh zone and in the water zone, are not fed because the fertilizer causes excessive growth of algae and other microorganisms that pollute the water.
