P:I am urgently looking for a remedy to "wither" the clematis. They grow nicely, but at some point some of the plants wilt and die. What is the reason for this? How do I cure my plants?
O:The most serious disease of clematis is withering, manifested by wilting and dying off of individual shoots or entire parts of the above-ground plants, even though the roots most often remain he althy.Plants are usually infected when they are weak, damaged or grown in poor conditions.
All dead parts of clematis, both shoots and leaves, must be removed.Chemically, you can counteract and combat this disease by watering the plants with 0.2% of an appropriate solution. You should pour 3-5 l of the solution on one plant and repeat the same treatment 2- or 3 times every 10-14 days.
Plant the clematis deep, about 10 cm below the base of the shoots, and the substrate should be well-drained.
P:My golden eater grows in a sunny position, in sandy soil, already improved with manure made of nettles, dandelion, peat and my own compost. Nevertheless, it has never bloomed and has leaves throughout the summer.
O:Among goldfoot, there are individuals that may not bloom for many years, and when they bloom, they produce little flowers. In this case, it is not worth waiting for the flowers to appear. It is better to replace it with a new specimen of the Waterera Laburnum x watereri species in the 'Vossii' variety, which blooms reliably. Especially that they are not expensive shrubs. The golden grasshopper adapts to different soil conditions, so you do not need to take care of them.
When buying a shrub, make sure it has a label with the name on it. This ensures that we are buying the right plant. It is good to buy the plant at the time of flowering. Besides, it's better to keep the receipt. If it turns out that the bush is not blooming, it can be advertised in such a case.
P:How to care for a passion flower? I've had this plant for a while, but it doesn't look like the pictures on the web.
O:The passion flower Passiflora belongs to the passionflower family and comes from South America in the subtropical and tropical zones. It is a vigorous climber that climbs with a spiral tendril, therefore it should be provided with a fairly large and stable support. Passion flower requires a position that is fairly bright, but not completely sunny, and well-drained. At the bottom of the pot there should be a drainage made of gravel or expanded clay.Excess water from the base should be poured off.
During vegetation, the plant should be watered abundantly and fed once a week, until August, with fertilizers for flowering plants. In winter, the climber should be kept in a bright and cool room (10ºC) and watered sparingly. In autumn or March, too long side shoots can be trimmed to
3-5 stitches.Falling leaves must be systematically collected.Passion flower can be transplanted every 2-3 years.
