PiO: fruit trees care

Olive trees in Polish conditions

P:I have an olive tree in my summer garden, which I brought from Italy in the winter two years ago. The tree was bearing fruit, but only at the beginning. Immediately after buying, his fruit fell off and never appeared again. The tree is about 1.5 m tall, but unfortunately its leaves are constantly falling and they dry up to half. I am sending the leaves from my olive - they are young, but already half-dried.

O:Probably the cause of the symptoms described by you are unfavorable conditions in which the plant grows. I did not find any pests or pathogens on the delivered leaves, and the symptoms may indicate a deficiency in water transport.Perhaps there is an excess or deficiency in the substrate. It can also be too dry in the apartment. I also do not know what the matter of fertilization looks like, do you use fertilization? Maybe the plant stands in the wrong place during the winter? Maybe the substrate is wrong?

In this case, there are more questions than answers. Please find out about the plant's requirements regarding the reaction of the substrate, position, humidity and fertilization requirements.Perhaps a care mistake has been made and the plant becomes ill. This is even more important as the olive tree does not come from our climate and is very susceptible to unfavorable conditions.

Pomegranate fruit

P:I grew pomegranates from seeds and I am asking for information on how to cultivate them and what their requirements are.

O:Pomegranate Punica granatum is a very old fruit tree, considered in many ancient cultures as a sacred plant. Its fruit was a symbol of fertility. It is suitable for growing in containers, and under favorable conditions it can reach about 0.6 - 2 meters in height. It may even bear fruit. The tree comes from the Middle East, belongs to the pomegranate family. It blooms in July and August.Requires a position of direct sunlight and good compost soil.Water them moderately and feed them with compound fertilizer once a month from March to July. Watering should be reduced afterwards.

Before introducing the plant into winter quarters, weak shoots should be removed and others should be trimmed about 1/3 of their length. The pomegranate should overwinter in a bright and cool room with a temperature of 2 to 6ºC. The place may also be dark, but then the plants are hardly watered.Leaves fallen in winter should be removed.Young specimens are transplanted every 2-3 years, older ones when necessary.
