PiO: bougainvillea cutting and olive tree wintering

" Somo pollination "

P:What kind of apricot can be used as a pollinator for the variety 'Somo'?

O:The 'Somo' apricot variety is quite self-fertile and does not need an additional pollinator for good fruiting. For other varieties, such as "Early Orange", the following varieties are used as pollinators: "Early with Morden" and "Harcot"; for 'Harcot' - 'Early Orange' and 'Early with Morden', and for 'Early with Morden' - 'Harcot' and 'Early Orange'.

Cutting bougainvillea

Q:Can bougainvillea be cut?

O:Bougainvillea is a vigorously growing climber, even in our conditions it can reach three meters in height. It must have a stable support to which vigorously growing shoots must be systematically tied.Since the plant has to be moved indoors for the winter, the shoots should be trimmed to a comfortable size.

Wintering the laurel tree

Q:Can a laurel tree and an olive be hibernated outside?

O:These species come from the Mediterranean basin and in our climate they cannot winter outdoors. The olive endures only light frosts and in winter it should be taken to a frost-free room with a temperature of 2-10˚C.In the dark it will lose its leaves. The laurel tolerates frost down to -10˚C, but it cannot be left outside for the whole winter. It can stand in a room with a temperature of 0-6˚C.

During wintering in such conditions, plants should be watered rather sparingly. The higher the temperature in the room, the more abundant the watering.
