Pizza oven

Table of contents

I always wanted to build an oven in my garden where I could bake bread and pizza. I managed to implement this idea last year.

The occasion was a warm autumn and… clinker brick at a reduced price. Although it turned out to be slightly damaged, it did not matter much during construction.

After collecting the materials and selecting the place, I prepared the substrate for the construction of the furnace. I marked out a square with sides 140x140 cm and chose the ground to a depth of 25 cm. I flooded the excavation with concrete.

After a few days, I started building. I marked the center of the square and on it, using a string and a nail, I drew a circle with a diameter of 120 cm.On the outskirts of this district, I built the first layer of half bricks. The internal diameter was approx. 100 cm. As a binding mortar, I used clay mixed with plaster mortar in a 50/50 ratio. You can also use sand. When arranging the next layer, I used a string attached to the center of the circle. I marked the slope of each successive layer. I was arranging the bricks day after day so that each level was slightly dry. This is how I built the dome. Then, two front arched walls were created, on which I placed the chimney. I covered it with a layer of clay mixed with sand inside and out. After drying (about a week), I lit the first small fire. When the clay was well dried, I covered it with thermal insulation glue on the outside and put plaster mixed with the grout on top of it. It gave it a nice color.

The bake, already with the first pizza baking, turned out to be sensational. The homemade bread also tasted amazing. You can also bake meat and cakes here.

I think such a stove is a big thing. Thanks to him, family feasts in the garden will take on a truly Mediterranean atmosphere. Dishes prepared in this way turn out to be not only tasty, but also very he althy.
