Potentilla perennial cinquefoil is a rather rare guest in our flower beds or in the rock garden.What a pity! Both its numerous species and varieties, as well as many forms of the shrub potentilla Potentilla fruticosa in our climate do very well, attracting attention with delicate flowers and pretty leaves.

Some come from mountainous regions, such as Potentilla aurea and the alpine Potentilla cranzii, or from low-lying plains, e.g. Potentilla recta straight cinquefoil, enchanting with its natural charm. Many Asian crosswords, such as'Flamenco' and 'Gibson's Scarlet' with single red flowers, has great decorative value, very useful in arrangements.

Numerous extremely attractive full-flowered forms come from the gardening company Victor Lemoine in Nancy (France), which has been cultivating perennial cinquefoil for over 100 years.Graceful plants enchant with modest cup-shaped flowers in yellow, apricot, orange, pink and red.

The orange-red flowers of the 'Arcenciel' or 'William Rollisson' varieties wonderfully enliven the bed with loose, moderately fertile soil. The cousin of perennial species is the shrubby cinquefoil. Depending on the variety, plants can grow to a height of 100 cm in a loose or branchy habit.Small colorful flowers shine continuously from June to October.A small shrub looks nice in the front yard, e.g. creating a border around the path to the house.

He finds ideal conditions on a sunny discount, but he can also cope with light shade. It tolerates heat well and withstands harsh conditions in periods of drought.On calcareous soils, cinquefoil leaves often turn yellow. It is best to prune the shrub in the spring. In order to keep it in a nice shape and flourish, it is worth cutting all of them at a height of 10 cm above the ground every few years.

Blooming from May to August Potentilla anserina goose cinquefoil is about 20 cm high. A wild species with pinnate, gray-green leaves, covered with hairs on the underside, creating in the leaf axils creeping 80 cm long runners.Small leaf rosettes develop in their nodes, and they easily root.

Goose cinquefoil often appears in gardens and is treated like a weed.Wild perennial grows particularly strongly in moist, clayey soil rich in nitrogen compounds.However, it can also settle in places with stony and rather barren soil.
