Zero waste, gardening or ecology are the hottest trends of the season."Warsaw in flowers and green" is the most experienced event in Poland in these topics.Its history dates back to pre-war times, when the competition was initiated by President Stefan Starzyński, and later in the 1970s, when the event was revived. Over the years, "Warsaw in flowers and green" has evolved to become the largest and most beautiful festival in Poland. One thing has not changed - the competition to which everyone can submit their garden, garden, balcony and even a floral window is still the key.
Look for a bicycle with free plants on the streets of Warsaw!
On June 12, the Bicycle Distribution of Plants will start. The cargo bike, weighing a total of over 30 kilograms, will travel the streets of Warsaw. You will be able to meet him at cultural events, during local festivals and picnics. Thanks to him, several hundred plants and several thousand seeds will go to new owners for free.Just to make the immediate surroundings even greener.
From June 15, every weekend, at the Garden Advice Points there will be free workshops related to, among others, With the cultivation of edible flowers, roses or vegetables.They will be led by popular experts, for example Sebastian Kulis - author of the blog "Plant tips". In turn, in one of the garden centers there will be a special advisor of "Warsaw in flowers and green" - the Warsaw Horticultural Expert - who will suggest not only how to grow plants, but also how to live with them in symbiosis.
"Warsaw in flowers and green" competition
Students will take part in an art and ecological competition. Therefore, "Warsaw in flowers and greenery" will make it impossible for anyone to remain indifferent to the topics it raises. Every resident of Warsaw, company and institution operating in the city, as well as groups undertaking green initiatives can participate in the competition.Gardens will be awarded in three main categories: people, company, neighbors.
The Stefan Starzyński, who promoted the greening of the capital.The Society of Friends of Warsaw will award prizes in the following categories: balcony, loggia and window, home garden, public areas, housing estates and other forms of urban greenery.
Additionally, the title of "Mister Flowers" will be awarded for the overall floral decoration of the building and the Special Warsaw Prize of the Main Board of TPW for special contributions to the promotion of the idea of the competition. For the first time, the Award for the Greenest Answer will also be presented - you only need to answer the question about your favorite plant in the competition form.
Applications can be submitted until July 7, 2022-2023.
