Cutting vines - leaves and small twigs

In the garden of my editorial colleague, we have always been able to admire the beautiful and extremely sweet vines that matured in September and gave juicy and firm fruit. This is the Swenson Red variety, which in the United States of America is recognized as the Patron of Northern Winemaking. The grapevine is extremely frost-resistant - it withstands well even at temperatures down to -30 degrees Celsius. The fruit has a sweet, slightly wine aftertaste that can be associated with the aromas of strawberries and blackberries.

This is a dessert variety that we use to prepare tinctures, homemade wine, jams and jellies. These shrubs grow quite strongly, which is why they will be perfect as a cover for gazebos, covering a large part of it. The expansion of the bush will certainly be helped by supports, in quite warm and wind-sheltered positions. An additional advantage of this variety is its high resistance to fungal diseases and plant pests, such as powdery mildew.

The first summer cut should be made when we notice the emerging stalks with small fruits. They should be located and slightly exposed during pruning for the proper growth and development of the plant and fruit. If, after the appearance of the peduncle, there is a longer regrowth with a few leaves that are flimsy and delicate, trim them. We also remove the climbing branches providing shade so that the plant does not completely cover the grapes.

When removing leaves and stems, we usedPX94 scissor one-handed secateursPowerGearX L,which was very secure in hand. Soft and well-shaped SoftGripTM handles made the cut extremely simple and precise. The unique PowerGearTM mechanism makes cutting easier up to 3.5 times compared to a regular mechanism. The blades are another advantage - they are made of very hard stainless steel (CrMoV). The upper surface of the blade has PTFE to reduce friction and achieve maximum efficiency. It is a special coating that has a low coefficient of friction - smooth, fast and trouble-free cutting the first time. Thanks to this solution, we do not burden the muscles of the hand and wrist, which is an incredible advantage. The PTFE coating is very difficult to wet, which additionally protects the blade against rust.

Cutting vines - branches and lignified shoots

Moving on to more advanced vine care, remember to trim some branches and woody ends. Where new skids appear, we can replace the old and dry bases with them. We can perform such treatments on well-developed bushes, at least 2-3 years old, with several branches.

Thanks to the use of a lever shears, we can easily remove them from the bushes. The L PowerGear ™ X LX98 lever secateurs, scissors, can also be successfully used for cutting small-sized trees, because it is based on a lever system that increases the cutting force. We will show it on the example of a juicy cherry, which produces excellent fruit every year.

For dense shrubs that require trimming not only individual branches and leaves, use the tools used to form shrubs. During these treatments, use sharp, well-sharpened tools that will not tear the delicate structure of the plants.

The handy HSX92 Fiskars shears will be helpful in shaping the plants. They are equipped withthe unique PowerGear ™ lever system, which increases the cutting force by more than three times. Thanks to the use of durable and durable FiberComp ™ material, they are light and very handy. High-quality stainless steel is an undeniable advantage in the case of precise cutting. Thanks to the long blades, they allowed to precisely reach selected parts of the plant and shorten it.Shrub profiling was very easy and pleasant and took literally several minutes. Additionally, the upper blade is coated with PTFE. Bumpers ensure free and safe cutting.

As mentioned earlier, we used the L PowerGear ™ X LX98 scissor secateurs to trim the cherry branches right after fruiting. You can also perform such a treatment in July - depending on what varieties we have. Selected branches should be thinned, especially on wide and lush crowns of fruit trees, so that they have access to light and air. Such a procedure allows to obtain abundant crops every year. The secateurs allowed for precise cutting and extremely easy to make. Thanks to the lever system, we used a small amount of force to cut through a he althy strong branch.

We additionally made a thuja cut, which serves as part of the hedge. The HSX92 Fiskars shears allowed for efficient and extremely easy work. Within a few minutes, the trees were trimmed and shaped so as not to block the sun's rays from other plants that require more sunlight.

Summary

Working with Fiskars tools from the PowerGear ™ X line is pure pleasure. Previously quite demanding and labor-intensive work has now been done quickly and very efficiently. Each of the tools facilitated cutting, fit in the hands well and did not expose the arms, hands and wrists to the development of muscle aches. This is very important, especially for older people who care for their garden on their own. These are perfect solutions for years - the tools are made with great precision, rather than spare on quality.

The last advantage is their storage. We received each of them with a packaging that secured the blade. There is no fear that we will cut ourselves reaching for them from the tool box. We can also suspend them so that children do not have access to them or sort them so that they take up as little space as possible.
