After building a house and moving into it, my husband and I decided to take care of the garden. We deliberately gave up the vegetable garden to create a place to relax around the house.
At the beginning, after leveling the ground, we sowed grass everywhere. Then we started thinking about vegetation. We opted for conifers to avoid too many leaves, especially in the fall. So we bought a few pines, thujas, cypresses, Caucasian firs, spruces. But there were also flowers, especially those blooming in spring.
Our house is quite far from the main road so we don't get to the street lighting. We decided somehow to illuminate the garden ourselves. We found solar lamps the best. You can buy them in any hypermarket: gardening, construction and grocery stores under the general name of "home and garden". Their prices vary depending on the material they are made of, the size and power of solar cells. The cheapest ones start from PLN 8-10. There is no upper price limit. I saw garden lamps for several hundred or even several thousand zlotys. It all depends on the size of your wallet.
We bought a dozen lamps. We put some of them in a row along the path. The effect is amazing. The only downside is the lawn mowing around the lamps. You have to either pull them out, or cut the grass right next to them with scissors.
We placed another batch of lights under conifers and on a flower bed among tulips, checkerboards and hyacinths.
Now our garden looks really impressive because the lights are scattered asymmetrically in different parts of the garden. So at night it is full of glowing dots.I must admit that small solar lamps do not give much light, but that's what traditional electric lighting is for in front of the house and on the terrace. The impressive effect and the garden full of cute "fireflies" are important.
