The variety of the colors of the bean fruit is surprisingly large. There are green, light and dark yellow, purple, blue and pink-red pods. The seeds of many varieties vary in size and shape and are also rich in protein. They come in many colors: white, black, white and black, pink, pink-purple, brown, speckled, etc.Almost all forms of beans are easy to grow, they only need to be given good conditions at the beginning of vegetation.
Pods of many varieties differ not only in color but also in shape. Flat and wide, they contain large, kidney-shaped seeds. The pods of other varieties are round in cross-section and are long or short, straight or curved.
In the botanical genus Phaseolus bean, belonging to the legume family, we can find about 200 species of perennials and annual plants with large trifoliate leaves. There are about 20 species in the world. We cultivate the most common varieties of two species: the common bean Phaseolus vulgaris and the multiflorous Phaseolus coccineus.
One-year common beans have two basic, very different forms: dwarf, bushy, and tall, climbing. European beans form dense clumps 25-60 centimeters high.Tall beans sprout slender stems 2-3 meters long, which require support in the form of poles or bars.
Runner bean is also a monograde plant. Stems reaching a length of up to 4 meters quickly and easily entwine all supports. In garden cultivation, the growth pattern of the beans is essential. Low, bushy forms do not require high soil requirements and are perfect for places often exposed to winds.
Early varieties, the cultivation of which we start from mid-May to the end of June, produce delicate and tasty pods after just a few weeks.Specialists recommend sowing seeds in several flushes every few or several days
and mounding plants when they reach a height of 10-15 centimeters.Maize, one-year-old savory, various brassicas are best suited for coordinate cultivation
and celery.
Summer vegetable harvest
Tic varieties grow much longer, but the harvesting period is longer up to three or four weeks.Slack stems require stable supports at least 2 meters high.Whether traditional wooden poles, wire mesh, trellis or fancy wicker braid, the supports should be placed in the ground before planting the seeds to the germinating plants immediately had a foothold.
If we care about our own, good-quality seed material, we choose the first few nice pods that will mature on the shoots.Later grown pods can be used to prepare tasty dishes.
