Southern climate in a Mediterranean garden

Table of contents

The warm summer air is filled with a sweet-spicy mixture of fragrances of orange flowers, pine needles and rosemary leaves. The sea shines with blue, and the singing of cicadas emphasizes the charms of the beautiful scenery. The Mediterranean landscape at any time of the day or night is stunning with its extraordinary charms. Why can't we enjoy the Italian or South French aura in our own gardenfrom spring to autumn ?

Unfortunately, in our conditions we must forget about the smells of warm sea, the chorus of cicadas and the sun of the South. But even without these elements, we can easily turn our garden into a small Mediterranean paradise. Using carefully selected plants and various accessories, let's create a Mediterranean oasis on a sunny terrace. A few plants in containers, such as oleander, olive and bougainvillea, are enough to create a southern atmosphere here.

The complement should be a floor made of terracotta tiles or a gravel surface, as well as garden furniture made of dark cast iron or made of light wicker. A pergola covered with grapevines or wild wine will provide some shade, as well as a stylish roof made of straw mats.

If that's not enough, plant the nearest flower beds with shrubs and perennials of southern beauty. They do not have to be only species from warmer regions, because plants with flowers in shades of red, orange and yellow will work well.

Plants with purple flowers and gray leaves also have a southern charm. For the rebate, we can choose catnip, mossy sage, lavender and bearded iris. The santolina, mugwort, hellette and woolly purgatory also look beautiful. In the Mediterranean bedding arrangement, the olive will be replaced by a willowleaf pear or a silver olive.

In the garden, we can also plant a real tree from the South, such as a common fig or a redbud, which opens its pink flowers in April. From now on, we will have nothing else to do but to set up comfortable furniture, fill the table with decorative porcelain and Italian, Spanish or Greek delicacies and enjoy the unique atmosphere in the garden in peace.
