Fir noble variety of 'Obrighoven' (Silhouette)

Noble Fir Abies procera 'Obrighoven' is a very valuable, slow-growing dwarf variety, reaching a height of 150 cm and a diameter of up to 1 m.It has a spherical or egg-shaped habit and irregular growth in youth. As the plant reaches about 10 years of age, the conductor may develop and the fir becomes ovoid or conical in shape.

Its decoration is delicate, non-stinging, silver-gray needles covered with a wax coating, slightly pointed at the top. 'Obrighoven' noble fir is frost-resistant, but in severe winters its annual growths may freeze. In youth, for the first few years, it is advisable to cover the plant with non-woven fabric for the winter.

Fir should be more noble in a sunny or slightly shaded, warm place, but sheltered from frosty, drying winds. 'Obrighoven' grows best on rich soils with moderate and constant moisture, necessarily permeable, and slightly acidic.

Recommended for planting in home gardens on flowerbeds, heaths and in rock gardens.It fits nicely in color combinations with yellow cypress and junipers and shrubs with an intense green color. Noble fir tolerates pruning and pruning which is best done from spring to mid-July.
