Where the mower can't…, the scythe will help

As part of the August revitalization of the grass, it is worth aerating to loosen and aerate the soil.Improving the structure of the substrate will restore the sorption properties of the soil and ensure the effectiveness of irrigation and fertilization. In August, it is worth nourishing the grass and practically you can use autumn fertilizers, rich in ingredients that immunize the turf to winter conditions.

One of the secrets to keeping your grass in good condition until winter is systematic and non-aggressive mowing.Regular mowing always rejuvenates the grass and ensures its good ventilation and water circulation, which minimize the possible outbreak of fungal diseases.

At the end of August, the grass grows slower, but it is worth mowing it until frosts, also taking care of mowing the edges of the lawn and in all corners of the garden. In places where the mower blades cannot reach, due to the width of the machine housing, a brushcutter and a scythe are helpful - devices designed for mowing grass and weeds in bends and on the edges of lawns, e.g. along paths, fences, under bushes and trees .Brushcutters and scythes are also ideal for mowing lawns up to approximately 300 m2 and are simply indispensable for mowing plants on a slope.

Lightness and balance

Choosing the right scythe depends on your individual needs and the intended use.Good mowing efficiency and full freedom of movement in the field are ensured by petrol brushcutters, among which it is worth paying attention to those equipped with silenced 4-stroke engines, because these engines have an excellent power-to-weight ratio. The modern design of 4-stroke engines is also lighter and more environmentally friendly than 2-stroke engines.

It is the weight, balance of the device and reliability with easy operation that are the most important criteria in practice when choosing a brushcutter, because they determine the comfort of mowing with the device that you have to carry. Light and precise mowing for a long time is ensured by the Honda UMK 435 scythe equipped with a 1.3 HP GX 35 4-stroke engine from the MINI series with a trimmer head. The universal cutting width of 40 cm allows you to reach any hard-to-reach place and at the same time ensures that the work is done quickly. The auto decompression engine is reliable to start with the first light pull on the starter cord.

Users of this scythe also appreciate the fact that the motor design allows 360 ° rotation in any plane without disturbing the operation of the scythe, hence the scythe easily mows grass on slopes and high hills. If you need to mow undergrowth, weeds with thicker stems or even young shoots of shrubs, the trimmer head can be replaced with a 3-blade cutting disc. The scythe is available with protective glasses and a harness.

Mowing comfort

When choosing a scythe or a brushcutter, it is worth trying the device immediately to see if it will provide you with an individual sense of comfort. You can then personally test the balance and the handle - another important element affecting the comfort of scythe mowing. The handle usually takes the shape of ergonomic handles or a semicircle, but their positioning affects the balance of the device.

An interesting solution is the Honda UMR 435E T backpack scythe designed for people who need a scythe to work for a long time. The scythe is equipped with an anti-vibration frame that adapts to the back, absorbs vibrations and conveniently distributes the weight of the device over the entire body and relieves the muscles of the back and hands. Its 4-stroke GX35 engine (max power 1.3 HP) with oil lubrication ensures the knife operation and its storage in any position.

Multifunction

In home gardens of all sizes, multi-functional tools are increasingly needed to perform a wide range of tasks throughout the year and take up much less storage space than several separate devices. This solution is a unit power train combined with various working elements, such as the conveniently balanced multi-function Honda Versatool equipped with a quiet and fuel-saving 4-stroke engine (power max.1 or 1.3 HP depending on model) and ergonomic handle.

The light, conveniently balanced SSBC E line head TAP & GO type is used for mowing, which can be quickly replaced at any time with a folding machine with a metal strip that allows the tool to be guided with a safe hand along the marked path, hedge trimmer, a 20 cm tiller with a working width of a pruner for pruning branches up to 15 cm in diameter or with a blower to clean the garden, remove leaves from the lawn and even fresh snowfall.

Correct use

An indispensable condition for satisfaction with the use of a scythe or brushcutter is the correct use of the device, because well-kept tools are reliable, serve for a long time and are cheaper both in use and in servicing.

In the case of scythes and brushcutters, the condition of the trimmer head or the cutting disc and the blade regulating the length of the line should be checked regularly. A line that is too long can damage the casing and prevent the motor from reaching sufficient speed. The ending line and the worn saw blade must be replaced.

Before each mowing with a petrol brushcutter, it is worth checking the condition of the cutting tool (sharpness of the cutting disc or line length) and its cover, operation of the throttle lever, STOP button, clutch and air filter. Every 3 months it is worth cleaning the air filter, and at the end of the season it is also worth lubricating the angular gear - preferably with the agents recommended by the manufacturer and checking the condition of the fuel filter.

A possible problem with starting the engine, a decrease in its power may be the result of a contaminated / damaged air filter, but also a sign of contaminated fuel or damage to the spark plug.If the scythe falls into excessive vibration, check the cutting element, as this may be caused by an incorrectly fitted cutting element.
