Primroses are divided and replanted after flowering, when the plants are already sprouting and spreading over a larger area.
First, we dig out a whole clump of plants with root balls. We gently separate individual cuttings and shorten their roots, which will stimulate their development. Then we plant individual copies in selected places. We tamp the soil around the plants and water it quite abundantly, because the right humidity has a decisive influence on the initial development of young primroses in a new place.
Colorful clumps of crocuses are a wonderful decoration of the lawn. Their green leaves should not be mowed immediately after the flowering period, as the tubers should accumulate nutrients for the next season.Mow the lawn when the leaves turn yellow and dry.
We plant the purchased crocuses in autumn in small groups or individually. Most species will spread widely within a few years.
If you have had other spring flowering bulbs in your containers and pots, you should also wait for their leaves to turn yellow. This is a sign that the onions have completed the process of storing the necessary nutrients and are entering a period of restOnly then can we extract them from the ground and place them in a storage place, e.g. in a cool cellar.
We do not have to remove the bulbs of faded flowers from the pots, and their withering leaves will hide other species of plants blooming in summer or ground cover perennials, which we will plant in the same containers.
