When looking for ideas for ornamental plants that are easy and quick to grow, let's pay attention to one-year-old climbers. Sweet peas, wolf, tunbergia and other species make us happy with their rapid development, wonderful flowering and often beautiful fragrances throughout the summer.Sometimes, such as in the case of runner bean or pumpkin, we also get tasty fruit.
Various applications can be found for annual climbing plants. The cultivation of fragrant peas next to the fence has a long tradition.A creeper with beautifully fragrant flowers should also be placed close to a place of rest, e.g.on the terrace.Plant a dozen or so young plants in a large container with an attached grille for vines. The charming flowers also have, among others, tunbergia, the blue wolf and the little-known rhodochiton.
These plants bloom tirelessly from July to October. With their exotic forms and colors, the flowers of the feathered wolf and fingerfish attract the eye. To cover the garden, let's plant large-leaved, fast-growing vines such as kobe beans or runner beans. They reach a height of about 3-4 m, therefore they are perfect for masking free spaces, even between the most magnificent shrubs.
Beautiful climbers need support in every situation. Long and thin shoots can be supported by a ready-made lattice, bamboo poles joined in the shape of a tent, a metal mesh or wooden fence, or taut wires or ropes.
Plants will develop perfectly and bloom profusely if we provide them with a sunny place, good watering and, from May, a weekly dose of liquid fertilizer. We grow most species from seeds and we can already start preparing for this extremely pleasant work.
