Moniliosis

Table of contents

This fungus causes gangrene of flowers and branches.Infected flowers with leaves and fruit budsrapidly die and turn brown. Moniliosis, under favorable humidity conditions, may lead to the death of all flowers and young shoots within a few days. The disease spreads from flowers to shoots and may extend to older branches. Dried leaves remain on infected branches. Prevention of moniliosis is to remove infected shoots during the winter. The places left by the cut shoots should be covered with garden ointment. The best time to chemically control brown rot is to apply treatments just before and after flowering.
