I know plants that keep their green all year round. They are box trees. Their care is not complicated. They withstand negative temperaturesand do not have any special soil requirements.
Ground and stand for bushman
When we plant them, however, it is worth covering the substrate with agrotextile, which will limit the growth of weeds and save time, which we would have to spend on frequent weeding.
Nursing pruning
Boxwoods require pruning, then they will grow better and more densely. It is best to do it in spring (March or April) and mid-summer (August). And if we let our imagination run wild while cutting, we will conjure up various shapes from the bushes. For my plot, I chose the shape of a ball, because I think that the round box looks the most impressive. When trimmed this way, it looks great among green thuja, pine or maroon barberry. It looks nice individually, but also in larger clusters.
Boxwood arrangements
In my garden I created an "avenue of boxwoods". It leads first to a magnificent diamond (an area limited by paving stones, inside which there are willows, creeping junipers and flowers), and then it directs visitors to my plot to the rockery. Formed small spheres look nice next to the path. This idea is very easy to implement on any property. Before planting shrubs, it is worth designating the destination of the alley, then it will direct guests visiting our garden to the central place. It can be, like in my case, a rockery, but also a pond or a rest corner. Boxwoods can also be planted on the edges of flower beds or create a low hedge.
