The agrotextile accelerates the crops

Table of contents

There are nonwovens of various thicknesses, textures and colors on the market. I became interested in them a few years ago. All I knew was that their use would speed up and improve the yields. I decided to use them in my garden. First, however, I had to read a lot about the individual materials. And I want to share this knowledge with the readers of "Recipe for the Garden".

Black agrotextileI grow strawberries, peppers and melons on the black agrotextile. It prevents the growth of weeds while allowing water and air to pass through to the plant roots. This material is also suitable for perennial ornamental shrubs and hedges. Before using it, I remember to properly prepare the soil. It needs to be cleaned of weeds and fertilized. The edges of the unfolded fabric are covered with earth or pressed with stones. Then I cut cross-shaped holes in it and plant the plants there. To hide the black foil under ornamental shrubs, I spread bark or decorative gravel under them.

White agrotextileI call the white agrotextile spring. Thanks to it, I do not have to produce seedlings of melons or cucumbers. This type of fabric protects the sowing against temperature fluctuations between day and night as well as rain and hail. As a result, I get an earlier and more abundant harvest. I spread the material loosely on a sown or planted bed - so that it does not restrict plants, which, after all, are constantly growing and need more and more space.

Shading netGreen shading net has been used by me for several seasons. In winter, I wrap it around box trees, and in spring I throw it over freshly planted bushes. This way, I protect them from the scorching sun until they take root.In summer, such a net spread under the dogwood makes it easier for me to harvest its small fruits.
