Aristolochia macrophylla is a vigorously growing climber with heart-shaped, dark green leaves and original pipe-shaped flowers. It quickly covers gazebos, pergolas or ugly facades in shady positions, creating dense green walls. Here are some tips on howcultivation of a large-leaved arachnid , how to do it yourselfbreeding of arachnidin the garden and what diseases and pests can attack this interesting climber.

The Arachnid is a climber with impressive, large leavesReaches up to 10 m in height, growing up to 2 m each year. 30 cm. The name coliform is therefore quite deserved: -) "
The arachnid arachnid is a plant that surprises with its colors. In early springthe leaves are light greento change color to warm yellow in autumn. Equally original arepipe-shaped flowersin brown color, appearing on the vine in May. When the insects attracted by nectar enter the flower, they become trapped in it, until the contents are thoroughly penetrated. After being released, they carry pollen on them and pollinate more flowers.
The Greater-leaved arachnid climbs with the help ofshoots, twining clockwise around the found supports. At the same time, very durable supports for the vines are necessary, which will bear the weight of the arachnid.
In the autumn, in September, fruitsappear on the coconut tree, which resemble slightly ribbed, small cucumbers. After ripening, they turn brown and release seeds. In gardens, they are used primarily as shade perennials.
The Greater Moth grows best in partial shade. It prefers fertile and moist soils, not too heavy, with a reaction similar to neutral or slightly alkaline. The cultivation of the arachnid in the garden is best done on calcareous soils , in a quiet position on the north side.

The Kokornak should be planted at least 50 cm from the base of the wallsand 1 cm deeper than it was growing in a pot in the nursery. The care of the arachnid consists of fertilizing each spring (in April) with multi-component mineral or organic fertilizers (you can use e.g.compost) and regular watering during the summer, aslarge-leaved arachnid is susceptible to droughtTherefore, before planting the arachnid, it is advisable to mix TerraCottem with the soil, which will help keep the soil moist.
The Greater-leaved arachnid winters very welland is fully frost-resistant (frost resistance zone 5A). Therefore, it can be grown all over Poland without fear. It also tolerates urban conditions well.Large-leaved arachnid tolerates pruning , after which it grows back quickly. Therefore, if it grows too much, you can go ahead and reach for the secateurs and shorten the strongly expanding shoots. This can be done even in the fall. For the first 2-3 years of cultivation, it is worth shortening the shoots every year in spring to allow the plant to branch out strongly. Only after this period, the arachnid will start to grow rapidly (it needs 2 years to settle down in its new position). Then we only shorten it when it grows excessively and possibly cut out damaged or diseased shoots.
The Arachnid arachnid reproduces by shoot cuttingsIn July, we take cuttings from the tops of the shoots. They should be 8-10 cm long. Then we plant them, for example, in the sand in a warm and humid place with a temperature of 18-20 ° C, regularly sprinkling with water and maintaining high humidity. The cocoon seedlings can be additionally covered with perforated foil and gradually uncovered as they grow. In winter, we leave them indoors, preferably at a temperature of 12 ° C. Ifreproduction in this waysucceeds and the cuttings take the winter, replace the young plants in April.
Summer is the time wheniron deficiency symptoms may appear on the leaves of arachnidsThe leaves turn yellow - initially from the tops of the leaves until yellow spots cover the entire leaf blade. To prevent ineffective stains, it is enough to spray with iron chelate at a concentration of 0.5% 2-3 times.

In mid-summer, brown spots may appear onleaves , which will no longer indicate iron deficiency, but a fungal disease - spot blotch. It can be distinguished from iron deficiency as the stains gradually change color from brown to black. In case of heavy infection, the leaves die off completely.
In the case of this disease of the large-leaved arachnid , the use of Topsin M 500 SC will help. Spraying should be performed several times at intervals of 10 days, preferably alternating with the natural preparation Biosept Active, which strengthens plants and inhibits the development of diseases. We should also remember to rake and burn fallen leaves from under an infected creeper in the fall. This will prevent the disease from spreading further.
Greater spider mite in hot, dry summermay be attacked by the spider mite. This pest lays eggs on the underside of the leaf in May, and in summer feeds, causing the formation ofyellow spots on the top of the leafA characteristic symptom of the mite are the leaf edges entwined with cobwebs. The leaves turn brown and fall off. After observing the first signs of spider mite feeding in the spring, spray with a spider mite, e.g. Karate Zeon 050 EC.
