Coastal slope is a pillow-shaped evergreen perennialthat can reach up to 10 cm in height. The leaves are narrow, grassy. Flowers gathered in capitate inflorescences located on high peduncles, up to 20 cm long. The species blooms purple-pink from May to September. Some varieties of the ring flower even until October.
Cultivation of the seasideis best done in sunny and warm places. The soil should be permeable and well-drained, not flooded during the fall and winter months. This plant does not tolerate high levels of calcium in the soil (slightly acidic to neutral soils are best).
Coastal slope develops excellentlybetween larger stones and pavement tiles, that is wherever there is at least a bit of soil to take root. It results directly from its innate conditions, because in natural places it occurs on rocks, sands, cliffs, dunes and some types of meadows. This makesArmeria maritima ideal for rockeriesand extensive green roofs. The loop tolerates urban conditions and air pollution well.
Coastal suspension is available in many interesting varieties , some of which are a real treat for collectors of rock plants. The varieties of the seaside ring differin the strength of growth and the color of the flowers, which can be white, pink or dark purple.
'Alba'- this is the most popular variety with white flowers and nicely colored, dark green leaves. Of all the varieties of the rot, it is 'Alba' that has the most resistant foliage and retains its green color throughout the winter. Its popularity is therefore justified and I recommend this variety to beginner plant lovers who are looking for hardy perennials for a long-flowering rockery!

Reproduction of the coastal circleis possible by dividing clumps into single rosettes and rooting them in sandy soil. For this purpose, the best-rooted specimensare divided after the flowering periodSometimes there is also self-seeding, especially if we do not cut the faded shoots of the coil on an ongoing basis. On purpose, can be propagated from seeds only in the case of a species, because the varieties sown from seeds often do not duplicate the characteristics of the mother plant.
