Malinojeżyna 'Tayberry'

What is a blackberry?

I grow various fruit trees and shrubs in my garden. One of the most interesting specimens in my collection is 'Tayberry' raspberry. It is a branchy shrub that needs at least 1.5 to 2.5 m of space. Creates several meters long, overlapping shoots with numerous, small spines.

What does the raspberry look like? The raspberry ripen from mid-July to the end of August. Their shape resembles the fruit they come from - raspberries and blackberries. They are large (up to about 5 cm), elongated in shape and dark red in color. Fruits appear on two-year-old shoots, similar to some varieties of raspberries.

I have several raspberries. First I had one, but the aromatic, tasty fruit faded away too quickly. And let me add that 'Tayberry' produces a fairly large harvest. So that every household member could be satisfied with them and that there would be something else - e.g. for juice - I decided to plant a few shrubs. Three of them grow next to wooden supports - stakes, and one is stretched over the pergola.

How to grow raspberry berries?I provided my raspberries with a sunny position and fertile, loose soil. During dry weather, I water them regularly every 4-5 days. I just remember not to overdo it with water, because these plants do not like flooding. After the harvest is finished, I cut out all the two-year shoots, i.e. the ones that bear fruit, and attach the new growths to the supports. These bushes are sensitive to frost, so I cover them with straw mats in late autumn.

Propagation of crossbreeds of fruit shrubs

Malinojeżyny do not produce root suckers, so it is best to propagate them from herbaceous (non-woody) cuttings. This is best done in late spring (May / June). New shrubs can also be obtained with the use of top dumps. In August, bend and cover the young shoots with soil, and in the fall - the already rooted ones - cut them off from the mother plant.
