Potted flowers - the basics of care

Table of contents

Thanks to plants, each house becomes cozier and lively. However, in order to be able to constantly enjoy beautifully growing flowers, we must first take care of them properly.

The most important thing is lightLight is the basic element necessary for the development of plants. Both its deficiency and excess can be harmful. That is why it is so important that the place where we put the pot should be selected depending on the needs of the species growing in it.

WateringThe water that we provide to flowers by watering is equally important. It should be standing and at ambient temperature. Cold, straight from the tap, can harm young and fine roots.

FertilizationPlants during the growing season require proper fertilization. We supply the leafy ones with preparations containing nitrogen and magnesium in their composition, while the flowering ones have an increased demand for phosphorus and potassium.

Examples of potted flower care

  1. There is a philodendron in quite a prominent place in my house. In my opinion, it is one of the most resistant ornamental plants. It easily tolerates the conditions in our apartments. However, be careful of direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.
  2. Recently a very popular plant is zamiokulkas, which also has low requirements and high endurance. It can successfully grow in semi-shaded places, while the harsh sun often causes brown spots on its thick leaves. I would like to add that it is a plant for the forgetful because it tolerates short periods of drought.
  3. My favorite orchids are characterized by incredible beauty, colors and durability. They don't like a lot of water, but they must have moist air - that's why I often sprinkle their leaves on them. During the growing season, I fertilize them twice a month. It is also important to choose the right substrate. Finely ground pine bark works best, which you can easily buy in a garden store.
  4. My daughter simply loves cacti. These desert plants like to stand in full sun. They tolerate the lack of water well. However, in summer, when the substrate begins to dry out, I water my thick-skinned beauties abundantly.
