Varicose veins are popular ornamental shrubs , mainly due to abundant flowering. The flowering period is relatively long. Depending on the species and variety, flowering may last from May to August.
Among the varicose veins available in ornamental shrub nurserieswe can find heather varicose (Deutzia carnea), notched varicose (D. crenata), slender varicose (D. gracilis), hybrid varicose (D. x hybrida), varicose veins (D. x rosea), varicose veins (D. x magnifica) and coarse veins (D. scabra). These species differ not only in terms of flowering, but also the color of flowers and the height achieved.
Owners of small home gardens should choose a slender, hybrid or pink vein , because these shrubs reach a height of 0.5 to 1.5 m.
is a very interesting variety of slender varicose vein 'Nikko' , which reaches a height of only 40 cm, and its flowers are full, white in color, appear in June. The leaves of this shrub turn red in autumn.

Slightly taller arevarieties of hybrid varicose veil , reaching a height of approx. 1.5 m. The 'Mont Rose' variety is recommended due to its large flowers, which are dark pink in buds, then light pink, about 2.5 cm in diameter. It is an abundantly flowering variety in June, extremely attractive. On the other hand, pink veins 'Carminea'has flowers attractive to bees and butterflies, purple-pink, white inside, gathered in panicles, appearing from May to June.

If we have more space to develop in the garden, it is worth choosing a coarse or corrugated vein.Variety of coarse varicose veins 'Plena'reaches a height of 3 m.This varistula has white flowers with a pink sheen on the outside, full, gathered in inflorescences, appearing from May to June. It is a variety that is extremely resistant to low temperatures.
Growing varicose veins will not be too much of a problemeven for beginner gardeners.
Soil requirements of the varicose leaf are low . It grows best in moderately airy, humus and sufficiently moist soils.
Varicose veins are also tolerant to sunlight . It tolerates shading and blooms profusely even under the treetops. It also grows well in sunny places, but is susceptible to drought.

Most of the veins are characterized by low resistance to low temperatures.During severe winters, the shrubs freeze to the edge of snow or ground, but at the same time show high regrowth ability - new shoots grow from damaged ground parts of the plant, quickly rebuilding the crown. Therefore, in the winter you should cover the veins with spruce branches to limit their freezing.
The first cutting of the veinis performed in the spring right after planting the bush, shortening its shoots by 1/3 of its length. If the bush is planted in the fall, you should wait until spring to cut it. Thanks to the first cut, the bush will take on well in its new position and will take on a compact habit.
Older varicose bushes are pruned after flowering , which usually falls in June or July. The faded shoots are shortened by half.
Every few years it is advisable to makea stronger cut to rejuvenate the vein . We illuminate the middle of the bush, providing it with optimal light. Remember also to systematically remove dry, damaged or deformed branches.
Varicose veins are reproduced only vegetatively from herbaceous cuttings . They take root very easily and young bushes grow fairly quickly.
Herbaceous varicose cuttings are harvested in June, from the soft tip of a young shoot, with 3 to 5 pairs of leaves. The length of the seedling should be 6 to 10 cm. Cut them off the mother plant with a pruner or a sharp knife just above the bud or leaf.
Take the varicose seedlings in the early morning and put them in the water after cutting them. The leaves from the lower part of the seedling should be torn off. Place the cut in the rooting agent. The prepared seedlings are planted in containers filled with a mixture of peat and sand or perlite in the ratio of 1: 1. It is advisable to cover the container with perforated foil to maintain high humidity.
After rooting, which usually takes five weeks, we gradually reduce the amount of sprinkling and ventilate the containers. Thentransplant the herb seedlings into potswith a diameter of 8 cm. In spring, we plant the veins in a permanent place.
