How to make a garden inspection

Table of contents

Garden InspectSimply put, it is a bottomless box with an inspection window that can be opened or unsealed. Frames are used to prepare seedlings of vegetables and flowers, especially those with a long growing season and requiring more heat. The frame can also be easily heated with manure, which will allow you to sow thermophilic vegetables, such as tomatoes, in March. We start building the inspection areaby collecting the necessary materials. Inspection walls can be made of concrete. Then the inspector will be permanently located in one place. However, I suggestwooden frame , which probably looks nicer in the garden and if it is small, it will also be light and very mobile - we will be able to move it depending on your needs. To make it even easier and actually cheaper, tomake a garden framewe will use a wooden MFP board, thanks to which we will also avoid the need to nail boards. In such a board you can cut inspection walls of any shape.

The garden fencecan have a mono-slope or gable roof (so-called Belgian). To make it easier, we will make such a one-slope. Only then, remember that we must be able to arrangegarden inspectin such a way that its window is facing south. This will provide the seedlings with the maximum amount of heat and sunlight.
The minimum dimensions that agarden frameshould have to fit any of the seeds inside it, is about 1.2 m in length, 0.6 m in width and 0.6 m in height. The rear wall should be 0.6 m high and the front wall at least 0.4 m high. Then we will get a slight slope of the inspection window, which can be tilted or opened. If it is to be a warm frame, heated with manure (more about this at the end of the article), it should be at least 20 cm higher so that a thicker layer of substrate can fit.
We already know what more or less our inspector will be, and the entire list of materials needed for its implementation is presented in the figure below. These are already cut MFP boards for walls (it is usually possible to cut them at the point of purchase), wooden strips, steel angles and hinges as well as glass, plexiglass or foil to cover the lid.

1. Front wall of the inspection, 2. Rear wall of the inspection, 3. Side walls of the inspection, 4. Wooden strips, 5. Steel angles, 6. Hinges, 7. Basic tools

The first step is to assemble the box. We use steel angles as corner elements, which will later also serve as stabilizing elements.

The next step is an inspection window. It is a simple wooden frame (can be joined with mounting flat bars), filled with transparent material. It can be glass, plexiglass or foil. Each of them has its advantages and disadvantages.

What we have created is the so-calledwinter inspect In order for it to become awarm roomwe do not need to install a special heating system. Horse manure is enough, as it decomposes, it emits a lot of heat. It is enough to warm our germinating seeds. To achieve this effect, we prepare a substrate consisting of 3 layers with a thickness of 20 to 30 cm in the inspection. The lowest layer is made of the aforementioned horse manure. For this we put dry leaves or straw chaff. Tamp it all down well and sprinkle a layer of soil for sowing on top. And it's ready!
