Rooting preparations , commonly known as rooting agents, usually come in the form of a powder or powder. The main component of rooting is auxins, i.e. plant hormones that influence the formation of adventitious roots at the base of the seedling. Additional ingredients are vitamins and microelements that support the effects of auxins.
The use of the rooting agentis to dip the seedling base, then shake off the excess powder and plant the seedling into the ground. Because when placing the seedling in the ground, all the powder may be removed, it is worth making holes in the ground in which we will insert the seedlings. In order for the rooting preparation to stick better, the tips of the cuttings are also moistened. This is most often the case with the most difficult-to-root cuttings.
various types of rooting are available in garden storesThe type of preparation should be selected according to the type of cuttings (herbaceous, semi-woody or woody), the difficulty of rooting and the type of plant from which the cuttings are taken. The most common types of rooting are B, A and AB.
The rooting agent Bcan be used for rooting cuttings of herbaceous greenhouse and potted plants. This rooting can be treated, among others, by pelargonium cuttings, as well as seeded bougainvillea, chrysanthemums, dahlias, cloves, peperomies, poinsettias, ivy, twist and geraniums.
Rooting Ais suitable for rooting hard-to-root herbaceous cuttings and semi-woody cuttings of trees and shrubs, such as: hydrangeas, roses, rhododendrons, as well as cypresses and junipers.
Rooting ABis suitable for rooting hard-to-root semi-woody cuttings and woody cuttings. This rooting agent can be used in the cuttings of plants such as actinidia, barberry, forsythia, jasmine, magnolia, currant, tawula and willow. It is also useful when planting conifers, e.g. yews, spruces and thuja trees.
Another group of rooting preparations are:Ukorzeniacz Korzonek Z(herbaceous cuttings),Ukorzeniacz Korzonek PD(semi-woody cuttings) andUkorzeniacz Korzonek D(woody cuttings).Specialist stores also sellSeradix B(herbaceous and semi-woody cuttings) andRhizopon AA(woody cuttings and conifer cuttings). The latter two contain a higher concentration of auxins and are used to produce plants that are extremely difficult to reproduce.
Regardless of the use of rooting, remember that cuttings should be provided with appropriate conditions - humidity, temperature and possible shading. No preparation will help if we do not handle the cuttings properly.
