Rosahumus - an ecological fertilizer containing humic acids- has been present on the Polish market for several years. During this time, he gained great popularity both among farmers and gardeners, as evidenced by, among others positive statements on our forum. Many people ask about the properties and mode of action of this preparation. Here are answers to7 frequently asked questions about Rosahumus

How is Rosahumus different from other humic fertilizers?

There are two types of humic fertilizers available on the market. The first are fertilizers produced by earthworms. The second isleonardite fertilizers , which is a mineral extracted in lignite mines -Rosahumus belongs to this group .
Leonardites were created in the Carboniferous period and are an intermediate form between coal and peat. They have a very good effect on the soil structure- they are even used to revitalize contaminated and degraded areas. This is possible thanks tovery high content of humic acidsRosahumus contains much more of them than fertilizers produced by earthworms, such as the popular biohumus.
Another difference is the form of the fertilizer. Earthworm fertilizers are usually liquid, andRosahumus is a microcrystallinepowder that you need to dissolve in water yourself.

Apparently, 1 kg of Rosahumus contains as much humic acids as 30 tons of manure. So what is the point of using manure?

Rosahumus contains 85% humic acids, 12% potassium oxide and 0.6% iron. Such a high content of valuable humic acids means that in this respectthis fertilizer is actually 30,000 times more efficient than manure .
However, it should be remembered that there are also other valuable ingredients in the manure, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium, boron and iron. Their proportions may vary depending on the type of manure. Among the listed elements,Rosahumus contains only potassium and iron , so the rest should be provided using mineral fertilizers.
So what is theadvantage of Rosahumus over manure ? There are 3 main reasons why farmers and allotment gardeners decide on this particular fertilizer:

  • Applying Rosahumus is easier and less labor-intensive than spreading large amounts of manure (and does not have an unpleasant odor),
  • Not everywhere is manure available in large quantities, and generally lacking,
  • Humic acids from Rosahumus affect the soil much faster and more actively than those from manure.

Rosahumus contains humic acids.Does Rosahumus acidify the soil?

Humic acids are indeed acids, but this does not mean that their use causes acidification of the soil - on the contrary -using Rosahumus neutralizes the soil pHHumic acids are very large particles that have the following chemical activity in the soil:

  • increase the availability of nutrients and water for plants
  • act as a natural metal ion chelator in an alkaline environment and facilitate their uptake by the root system,
  • retain water-soluble mineral fertilizers in the root zone and reduce their leaching,
  • have extremely high cation exchange capacity,
  • increase the conversion of nutrients (NPK and microelements) to forms available for plants,
  • reduce the availability of toxic substances from the soil,
  • neutralize soil pH.

Rosahumus fertilizes the soil by improving its physical, chemical and biological properties. By using Rosahumus, mineral fertilization can be reduced by half

What is the mechanism of action of Rosahumus? Is it a fertilizer or a fertilizer?

Rosahumus contains humic acids, potassium and ironIt is an unusual fertilizer because its main action is not to provide plants with nutrients, but to fertilize the soil. Rosahumus fertilizes the soil, improving the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil.
Therefore, when using Rosahumus, you should not stop using mineral fertilizers. Improving fertility will allow them to be better used by plants. The conducted research confirmed thatusing Rosahumus can reduce mineral fertilization by half and keep the same yield

I want to loosen the clay soil in my garden.
Are humic acids alone enough? How to support the effects of Rosahumus?

Improving the structure of the lumpy clay soil, very compact and loose, requires the simultaneous application of humic acids and liming. On acidic soils, chemical degradation and disintegration of the secondary clay mineral structures occur, as a result of which the soil loses its lumpy structure, which determines the proper water-air relations. In addition, useful nitrifying bacteria, activating P-ammonificators, and symbiotic bacteria that bind free nitrogen disappear on acidic soils.

The interaction of humic acids and calcium is the best way to improve the culture of catchment clay soils.
On clay soils, it is best to use the OXYFERTIL 75/25 fertilizer containing 50% CaO + 25% MgO in autumn or very early spring. In order to accelerate the formation of a lumpy structure and humification of the organic substance, use ROSAHUMUS .
In order to determine the doses of calcium fertilizers and humic acids, a chemical analysis of the soil should be performed: soil reaction, content of assimilable forms of nutrients and humus.

Does Rosahumus contain soil microorganisms (so-called EMs)?

Rosahumus is made of leonardite - a mineral that fertilizes the soilContains humic acids - does not contain soil microorganisms.
Humic acids in the soil act as organic catalysts many biological processes and stimulate the growth and multiplication of beneficial soil microorganisms (including nitrobacteria and nitrosomonas). Sousing Rosahumus we do not provide microorganisms, but create very good conditions for their natural development

Rosahumus is recommended for soil application. Can pouring a part of the plant (e.g. the stem or leaves) harm it?

The fertilizer improving soil fertility, Rosahumus, can be used in several ways:

  • Soil spraying- basic method, recommended especially on large areas (lawns, arable fields),
  • Watering with a watering can- when we want to fertilize specific plants,
  • Dipping the roots or dressing the hole under the plant- a method recommended when planting plants.

In some countries, this fertilizer is used as foliar application in professional crops. However, fertilization in this way leaves a sediment on the plant (the fertilizer is dark in color), which is not harmful to the plants. However, be careful on warm and sunny days - the dark color causes the leaves to heat up faster, which may result in burns.
