What trees and shrubs do we plant in autumn?

At this time of the year, trees and shrubs from the so-called open rootsThese are plants that were grown in the nursery directly in the ground. After the seedlings have been dug up, they are sold without pots, that is, with the exposed root. Sometimes the roots are secured with the so-called bale. Such seedlings aremuch cheaper than those sold in pots
With the exposed root we plant:

    ornamental deciduous trees and shrubs
  1. hedge plants
  2. roses
  3. fruit trees and shrubs

When to plant bare-root plants?

Plants should be leafless, i.e. after the leaves have fallen. For this reason,is planted from October to Novemberuntil there is no frost.

How to plant bare-root plants?

  1. Dig a hole 2 times larger than the root ball of the planted plant
  2. At the bottom of the hole, make a mound of fertile soil or compost. If we don't have compost, use soil mixed with granular manure.
  3. If necessary, trim the roots of the plant. In particular, damaged and broken roots should be removed
  4. Place the plant so that the roots lie freely on the mound
  5. Then we cover the hole. On light and easily drying soils, mix the soil with TerraCott. This preparation contains ingredients that improve the structure of the soil and a hydrogel that helps to maintain moisture. Thanks to this, newly planted plants will be less sensitive to overdrying
  6. Be careful not to cover the vaccination site with soil
  7. After burying the hole, lightly knead the soil and water the plant abundantly
  8. After the first frosts, at the foot of the plant, make a mound of leaves, straw, pine bark or compost to protect the seedling from freezing.
