Golden spore Chrysogonum virginianum is a tufted perennial 15-25 cm high with irregularly branched, red-green, rough stems, at the ends of which single inflorescences are formed: star-shaped yellow baskets 3-4 cm in diameter.Plants bloom profusely from May to August-September.
There are several varieties in cultivation: 'Allen Bush' - creeping, vigorously growing, with golden yellow flowers, 'Springbrook' - with shiny green leaves, yellow flowers, perfect for creating casing and 'Pierre' - with soft leaves and long flowering.The goldfish is easy to grow.It grows best in a sunny or slightly shaded position, in a permeable, sandy loam soil, quite rich in humus, with a pH of 6.0-6.5 and moderately fertile.
During the growing season it requires constant, moderate humidity (which promotes long flowering), and much less in winter. The care treatments include: mulching with composted pine bark and one-time supplementation with multi-component fertilizer in the spring.
Złotospor is suitable for rockeries, slopes, borders, edges of beds, as well as for planting between young bushes. As a ground cover plant it works well in small areas.It can be propagated both in early spring by dividing expanded clumps, and by means of herbaceous apical shoots and seeds.This vigorous perennial winter well.
