Foundation of Bank Ochrony Środowiska will allocate PLN 50,000 PLN for the revitalization of neglected housing estates and blocks of flats. A nationwide pro-social grant project: "Zielona Ławeczka" has just started. Inhabitants of open estates managed by housing cooperatives and communities will be able to apply for money (up to PLN 1,200 for each complex) to green neglected areas. Registration of participants lasts until March 31, 2014.
The project has a social and tenant character. It will engage neighbors to cooperate - the goal is to rebuild and revitalize neglected housing estates.What should i do? Turn ugly housing estates into green places, flower gardens and squares. The common element of the rebuilt spaces will be a green bench, which will be funded by the organizer. Neighborhood teams will also receive cash, incl. for the purchase of plants. Each group can receive up to PLN 1,200. The best teams selected by Internet users can additionally count on prizes in the form of garden equipment.
- Residents increasingly want to be responsible for the environment in which they live. They care about a clean and nice neighborhood. They set up local greenhouses and greenhouses, take care of playgrounds and plant trees. Our project is to encourage them to take another action. We provide not only substantive support, but also financial support - says Barbara Lewicka-Kłoszewska, Vice President of the BOŚ Foundation.

Many residents would like to green their neighborhood space, but do not know how to start. The BOŚ Foundation has prepared an internet platform (www.Zielonalaweczka.pl), which is the knowledge and information base about the project. - We have described the stages that the neighborhood team should go through, we have given a number of tips on landscape architecture and gardening, we have refined the calendar and the list of frequently asked questions - emphasizes Andrzej Pietrucha, President of the BOŚ Foundation. The project was joined by the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, the Department of Landscape Architecture and the Department of Landscape Art. Experts from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences will evaluate the submitted works and consult them (e.g. they will make corrections so that they look like professional projects prepared by a landscape architect).
What must be done?
- Choose a place to change and persuade your neighbors to do so. Remember that a representative of the area administrator must also be a member of the team. He will be the guardian of the correct performance of the task, and the funds will be transferred to the account of a given institution (cooperative, community).
- Then you need to prepare a design of a square, garden or other piece of greenery. In addition to greenery, it must include a green bench, which will be provided by the organizer. The project should be accompanied by the cost estimate of its implementation and the schedule.
- Until March 31, 2014, you must register on the project website (www.zielonalaweczka.pl), familiarizing yourself with the regulations and schedule in advance. While the registration of neighborhood groups (minimum 5 people) closes at the end of March, the same projects can be submitted a month later, i.e. by April 30 this year.
