Hardy and cute daisies

"It's nice to tear a few hundred times a leaf and a rosary of loving words" - this is how the beauty of this filigree perennial was praised by the poet Juliusz Słowacki, who made its flowers silent witnesses of his love.

Daisies are one of the nicest little flowers, without which in the garden - especially in a naturalistic style - we would miss something, and a small spring bouquet would be expressionless. Common daisy Bellis perennis is a common perennial in Poland and all over Europe. It is very durable - it can be bitten by animals and trampled, so it is a species characteristic of pastures, lawns, roads and meadows.

The main flowering period for daisies is in the spring, but varies in intensity throughout the entire growing season - it blooms even in mild winters. It grows mainly in soils rich in minerals and not too humus.

All currently cultivated forms and breeds of ornamental daisies are derived from the small, ubiquitous common daisy. Since it flowers most profusely, produces a lot of seeds and shows the best varietal traits in the second year after planting, it is grown for ornamental purposes every two years.

Longer cultivation is unprofitable, as the plants gradually lose their decorative value.Cultivated varieties differ from the original species with full inflorescence as well as size.

The daisy is also a medicinal plant, as it contains saponins, tannins, resins, malic, tartaric, oxalic and acetic acids as well as significant amounts of mineral s alts.It is part of many herbal mixtures (the raw material is the inflorescence).
