May and June is a good time to try your hand and start breeding plants on your own. It is not that difficult at all. They say you have to have a hand with them.On the one hand, it's true, but you also have to be patient and just wait calmly for the results of your work.
For some time I have been giving foam forms to various plants in our garden. The shrubs look beautiful, but they are much more effective with an exposed long trunk. This form works especially well in small gardens, because you can plant other plants under it.The tree will also create a protective umbrella for them.
There are two ways of using the foam form. The first is to systematically remove side shoots and keep one guide as the plant grows. I have my own method for this. In the spring, I take long one-year increments from large plants.
Depending on how long the shoot we prepare, we will have such a tall plant later. Then I shorten its top and tear off all the lateral growths, leaving only a few at the top (these will be the twigs that we allow to develop).I put the shoot in the rooting plant and plant it in a fairly humid and shady place in the garden. After a year, the plant is rooted. You only need to remember to water it systematically and remove the side growths that will appear all the time.
In nurseries you can buy grafted plants, but they are quite expensive. Personally, I prefer to spend some time and try to get them for free.Shrubs that I recommend for standard forms include, among others shrubs, roses, forsythia, physalis and dogwoods.
