How can washing vegetables help save water and caring for your garden with bees? The organizers of the "Warsaw in flowers and greenery" competition show how both of these activities can help fight the effects of climate change. On June 12 and 22, they initiate ecological campaigns in which they encourage all residents of Warsaw to participate.

One of the most important resources on Earth - water - has long been shrinking. From year to year, it is less and less. In Poland, we have the lowest water resource in the entire European Union, and the amount of water per citizen is three times lower than the norm.Despite the recent rainfall, which has improved the humidity conditions, we still have drought in Poland - to make up for the water deficit, rain would have to fall continuously for the next few weeks. The organizers of the 37th "Warsaw in flowers and greenery" competition want to encourage the entire capital to save water! Regardless of rainfall, everyone can help plants in their environment. And it doesn't require any effort.

What should I do?

  1. Don't waste water!
  2. Keep water (no detergents) from washing vegetables / fruits / hands.
  3. Pour the saved water into a bottle and throw away the garbage, water the nearby tree / bush or lawn.
  4. Encourage your neighbors / friends / family to do the same! Small changes make a big difference to the environment! ☺
  5. Go to the Facebook profile @Warszawkwiatach and mark your friends under the dedicated post you want to encourage to take up the water saving challenge.

On June 22, the second action will start:warszawawkwiatachforapszczółOver 300,000 species of plants in the world are pollinated, among others by bees. Without the work of these insects, we would not be able to produce even 90 percent of our food products. Unfortunately, as many as 222 out of approximately 470 species of bees living in Poland are threatened with extinction. They lack food, which reduces the size of the population. Fortunately, each of us can contribute to the improvement of the ecosystem, thus increasing their chances of survival. It is enough to plant flowering plants - the more various honey flowers, such as heather, lavender, dahlia, slick, sunflower, catnip, echinacea or herbs, the more food the bees have. Thanks to this, we not only decorate our window, balcony or garden, but also help to survive the endangered species.

  1. Plant honey flowers
  2. Upload a photo with hashtagwarszawkwiatachdlapszczół
  3. Give info about the action next!
