Thyme
Thyme is my favorite herb both in the garden and in the kitchen.
He alth properties of thyme
Contains many valuable substances. Essential oils are responsible for its smell, the main ingredient of which is thymol. This compound has bactericidal, fungicidal and anthelmintic properties. The herb also speeds up the metabolism and, in particular, helps the digestion of fats.It also fights fatigue and sleepiness to some extent. All this makes thyme a very valuable medicinal and spice herb.
The use of thyme in the kitchenI add fresh leaves to my favorite dishes - both meat and vegetarian. Dried ones are added to my home baking and I drink the infusion sometimes instead of regular tea, especially after meals.
Drying and storage of thyme
For drying, I use two-year-old shoots, cut 7-10 cm above the ground. Tied in loose bunches, hang in the shade. I keep the herb in airtight vessels, I shred it only before use.The plant looks great as a border for flower beds, and in winter - also in a pot on the window.
