Szorstkowiecor Trachycarpus is a beautiful palm from Asia that grows in the Himalayas. This exotic plant withstands Polish frosts very well. It has been growing for a long time in Bulgaria, Germany and even Great Britain. So I thought that nothing would prevent her from accepting her in Poland as well.
The most popular are:Fortunego roughstoneTrachycarpus fortunei andNainital roughstoneTrachycarpus Nainital - the latter is extremely resistant to temperature drops. These varieties can most often be found both in our country and in Europe.
When buying a plant, consider its age. Large specimens are more frost-resistant. The ideal tree should be 4 to 6 years old.
Szorstkowceis best put to the ground in May, after the so-called "Cold Zoska". We must be aware that they will not start growing right away. You have to be patient, giving the plants time to party in the garden. Growth is slow as the palms take about a year to take root. In the years to come, if we keep them dry, they will start to grow faster and will produce more leaves. They may lose them in winter. To avoid this, it is worth sprinkling them with snow, making a mound that will give them the necessary warmth.
