Autumn is the time when I replenish my orchardfruit bushesThe plants planted in October and November will have time to take root even before winter. Withplanting springyou have to make it by mid-April, which is not so pleasant. Spring has come late to us recently and we don't want to go out to the garden, when the cold winter still reigns outside the window.
The sequence of steps forplantingis as follows:
Soil preparation
I dig the earth to a depth of 3 spikes, on an area of about 1 m² for 1 bush. I enrich it with compost
in the amount of 10 kg per bush.
Choice of variety
I always try to buy old, traditional varieties. I avoid market news like fire. I believe that such grandma'sraspberriesorcurrantshave only advantages. First of all, they grew and fructified before chemical plant protection products were invented. So I assume that since they used to be able to do without boosters, I don't have to splash them with anything to make them yield better. In addition, suchshrubsare more resistant to disease. Why? Because they don't spend their energy producing some superb fruit. And most importantly - they are much tastier and more aromatic than their modern cousins!
The art of planting
I always buy plants in containers.Unfortunately, after the whole season spent on a sunny platform in the store, the seedling is dry and has dense roots. Before planting, I soak it and the pot overnight
in a bucket of water. Watering abundantly afterwards would be of no use, because the water will soak into the loosened ground, instead of into the roots. I put the youngbushin a hole, on the bottom of which I throw a handful of corn kernels and cereals. That's what my great-grandfather did. He claimed that thanks to this the plant will take root better, because it will use the substances contained in the germinating grains. I make sure that the surface of the root ball is 5 cm lower than the ground. Planting too deep can inhibit the growth of the plant.
Care
Caring for myshrubscomes down to watering and sanitary pruning. Every 2-3 years I sprinkle them with compost.
