I bought my first pond fish a few years ago. It consisted of a few crucian carp and a carp. At that time, I didn't really know how to take care of them. The beginnings were difficult.
Fish purchase and quarantine
Unfortunately, I lost a few fish when I put them in the pond. I didn't know they had to go into quarantine and they needed to get used to the water in the tank. It is best to put the fish in a bucket of water in which they were brought from the store and gradually add the one from the eyelet. Such hardening takes several hours.
Fry
So far I had ten crucian carp and a carp, but in early autumn small fish appeared.I only noticed them when they had grown a little bit and started arriving for feeding. There were about 15 of them, all black. Since I breed fish, there have never been any fry, but in this situation I have to think about enlarging the pond. Now, in addition to food for adult fish, I also throw in a small one for small ones in the form of microscopic balls.
Fish in the season
During the season, my pupils do not require any special care, apart from feeding. Besides, I turn on the fountain in the pond for a few hours to oxygenate the water.
Fish out of season
The fish require a little more attention in the fall and winter season. The tank is not deep, so it freezes completely. At the beginning of November, I catch fish and put them in the aquarium. I have installed a filter with a pump in it, which I turn on once a day for a few hours. Cleans and oxygenates the water.
Now the fish are a bit tight, because the young have arrived. I'll have to separate them because the carp is starting to nibble on them. They will come back to the pond in spring, when I am sure that there will be no frosts.
