Propagation by cutting

Table of contents

Leaf stalks of African violets should be cut to a length of 2-3 cm and planted in the substrate. The leaf blade should not touch the soil in the pot.

Leaf cuttings can also be used to propagate the coarse species (mainly the woody crusher). After breaking off the selected leaves, they should dry for a few hours, and then we plant them preferably in the soil intended for cacti.

Royal begonia forms young plants at the incisions on the veins in the lower, wider part of the leaf. After making the cuts, place the leaves on the ground and fix them so that they do not move.

If we want to multiply the twist, we divide its leaf crosswise into several sections. The main nerve must be excised. Then we place the cuttings in the ground in such a way that the cut site is a few millimeters deep into the ground. This is important because young roots will grow at the intersection of the tissues.

The optimal temperature and humidity for growing young plants can be obtained, for example, in a mini-greenhouse, where we place rooting cuttings.
