Chrysanthemums can be easily propagated using apical shoots from early spring to the end of May. These cuttings are taken from the mother plant, i.e. a he althy chrysanthemum, which we have stored over the winter. To stimulate the mother plant to grow, we move it to a warm, well-lit room, regularly water and feed it.The seedlings should be 3-5 cm long.
We cut them out with a sharp knife, then remove the bottom leaf and trim with a sharp, clean knife just below the knot, perpendicular to the axis of the shoot. The seedling prepared in this way should be placed in a pot with a rooting medium, which can be: peat, a mixture of peat and sand, a mixture of perlite and peat or a peat substrate with a low content of mineral fertilizers.
Place the pots in a bright place, but not in direct sunlight.Rooting is favored by warm air and a moist substrate (we cover the cuttings with a foil bag or jar). Before placing the seedling in the substrate, we can apply a root stimulant. Chrysanthemum cuttings take 2-3 weeks to root. Then we plant them in pots.
