Transplanting potted flowers

Table of contents

Every potted plant needs to be repotted from time to time. The treatment is necessary if we observe that:

  • leaves get smaller, turn yellow and shoots stop growing,
  • roots come out of the pot,
  • s alt blooms appear on the surface of the substrate.

Deadline for transplanting

Plants are best transplanted in early spring (February-March), when the dormant period is over.

Transplant step by step

  1. We start with irrigating the substrate, i.e. immersing the plant in a bucket.
  2. Take the flower out of the pot after taking it out of the water. We loosen the tangled roots a bit. We remove the dry and damaged ones.
  3. Pour a centimeter layer of drainage and a bit of fresh substrate on the bottom of the new container.
  4. Place the root ball centrally and sprinkle it around, slightly compressing.
  5. The top edge of the soil should be approx. 1.5 cm lower than the edge of the pot. After watering, place the plant in a place not very sunny for two weeks.

For transplanting, choose pots slightly larger than the previous ones - by about 2-3 cm.
