Q:How to cultivate and store bougainvillea over the winter?
O:Bougainvillea is a vigorously growing climber. Even grown in containers, it can reach 3 m in height. You need to provide it with a solid support. In our climatic conditions, we cannot cultivate it in the ground. It must be transported for the winter to a cool and bright room with a temperature of about 8-10˚C (it is worth having a trolley for transporting plants).
Before bringing home, its shoots are shortened too long. During the winter, the plant loses its leaves. Then we stop watering. If the room is too warm, the plant needs to be watered a little.Fallen leaves need to be removed. In March, the plant is moved close to a sunny window (this will speed up the flowering of the creeper).
Bougainvillea needs sun, warmth and a sheltered place to flower profusely.Requires abundant watering (avoiding excess water) and a weekly supply of fertilizers for flowering plants.
