PiO: planting, forming, rooting

Rooting budlei twigs

Q:Is it possible to root budlei twigs that are harvested by pruning the bush in early spring?

O:Budley is propagated from herbaceous cuttings in summer and autumn (July - October). Before planting, remove the lower leaves, and shorten the remaining leaves by half.Roots can be used. Budlei cuttings take root quickly.

Wisteria in pear form

P:In the special edition of "My Beautiful Garden" I read that wisteria can be made in pear form. I am asking for tips, what variety to choose, how and when to cut it?

O:Glycine can be led in the shape of a tree. Several young shoots of a creeper are loosely twisted around each other and tied to a strong stake which will support the tree for several years until the shoots become lignified.

The shoots forming the crown should be cut strongly into several stitches every spring, in March.Too many shoots should be removed. Any wisteria variety can be grown this way.

Planting over drains

P:Our newly built house is drained on three sides with drainage hoses at a depth of 1 m. At what distance from the drains can ornamental trees and shrubs be planted so that their roots do not clog snakes?

Which species should be excluded because of the so-called the Root Journey?

O:Plants with deep-rooted roots, such as trees and large ornamental shrubs and fruit trees, should not be planted above the drains.Such plants can be planted within the range of an adult's crown.

In such places you can plant shrubs with a shallow root system, such as rhododendrons, magnolias or junipers, as well as shrubs - heather, heather, lavender or perennials.
