Do you want to have a big tree in a few years? Seat Paulownia! In January 2006, my husband bought me the seeds of Paulownia fluffy, also known as the imperial tree.
Paulownia seedlings
They looked like tomato seeds. Already in mid-March, I planted them in a pot. From over twenty, a dozen have sprouted. After three weeks, the plants were about 10 cm. I chose the 9 most plump ones and I replanted them into tall pots. The leaflet attached to the seeds warned that the plant had long roots. In mid-May, when the seedlings were about 30 cm, I planted them in the garden. I figured that one of them would be “going to be fine anyway,” so I put it under the fence next to the house.
Caring for Paulownia seedlings
It was a very dry summer. Despite careful care and watering, all the plants have died out. Only one survived. Guess which one? Of course, the one from under the fence! You can see that, pressed into the corner of the fence, she had a great will to live …
In September, Paulownia was already higher than the fence. Two years later it was over 2 m. "Where did you get this tree from? It grew there? I don't remember!" - the neighbors asked. And everyone wanted to know where to buy Paulownia seedlings. When my Paulownia planted seeds last fall, I was happy! I wanted to know what the color of the flowers would be, because the flowers have different colors: lilac, pink, white. Unfortunately, severe frosts came and the delicate buds did not survive the winter. However, I hope to see my Paulownia next spring in all its glory.
