WE FINISH CLEANING UPAt the beginning of the month, weather permitting, we finish cleaning up the garden. Rake the leaves, cut out the withered shoots, leaving only decorative seed heads, which will decorate the garden when frosted or covered with light snow.
WE BROW THE SOILBefore winter, it is worth digging the soil to a depth of 30 cm and leaving it untreated, i.e. in the so-called sharp furrow. In this way, we use the beneficial effects of frost to improve the soil structure. In addition, "removing" the soil allows the accumulation of more water from spring thaws.
WE CONTROL HEALTHWe look at dahlias, rhizomes, tubers of begonias, gladiolus, crocosmia and tiger bulbs, gallonia, acidanthers, hymen and oriental lilies.Remove sick plants. The storage conditions for rhizomes, tubers and bulbs should also be checked. Almost all of them require a temperature of 5-10 ° C (except for hymenoptera and acidanthers, which require 15 ° C) and not too high air humidity. Sprinkle the tubers of begonias and crocosmia, dahlia carps and the rhizomes of the bead with sand or sawdust to prevent drying out.
