Even in the smallest of gardens, many species of beautifully flowering perennials can grow. Plantings can be arranged on narrow flower beds between the garden path and the fence, on the border of the terrace with the lawn or at the entrance to the house. There are enough potential positions, it is enough to skillfully adjust the plants to the local development conditions, sometimes selecting slender and high-growing species, other times low and creeping ones.

On an area of 2-3 square meters, no more than 4-5 species should be planted, otherwise the planting will become chaotic. It is worth choosing plants with various forms of growth, so that they complement each other and create a harmonious image. From the grand (tallest) perennials, it is worth choosing only one plant (of one species) and grouping from 3 to 9 accompanying specimens around it. We will achieve the best compositional effect when we plant them irregularly. Finally, we plant as many small perennials as the bed space allows. As a result, the stand should be completely filled with plants.
Perennials of magnificent perennials, among the most popular perennials, are rough sunflowers, rudbeckies and cannabis plants. Not every gardener can afford such a luxury, because in order to enjoy the view of multi-species planting with different flowering times, the plants must be guaranteed a sufficiently large living space. The Carolingian day lily and yucca have the advantage that due to their impressive foliage, they also look attractive when the flowering season is over. The larkspur can be recommended for small rebates only in some cases, because although by trimming the blooming shoots you can stimulate it to set flowers again in the fall, planting does not attract attention for many weeks. If, nevertheless, you do not want to give up blue flowers, we advise you to choose one of the hybrid varieties from the Belladonna group, which are distinguished by a compact habit.
Companion plants, too, the most important selection criterion is flowering time. Long flowering time among plants with a height of 30 to 80 cm are found in: catnip, slope, gailardia, sage, pomegranate and red spur. These plants bloom in early summer and fall, after the shoots are trimmed after the first flowering. When buying perennials, pay attention to their site requirements, checking if they like sun or shade, and whether they like wet or dry ground. When choosing plants for perennial beds, first we must pay attention to the shape and size of the selected species, and only then to the color. In most cases, shape and size are permanent features, at least throughout the summer, while flowers may only appear briefly.
Perennials for empty spaces Some perennials, such as poppy seeds or bulbs, disappear after flowering, leaving empty spaces in the bed. Therefore, in their company, such species should grow, which, as they grow larger during the vegetation, cover or fill them. When choosing individual species, we should also remember about those with decorative leaves. They will be a perfect backdrop for your thriving neighbors, and they will keep their attractive appearance throughout the season.
