The most common symptoms of micronutrient deficiency

Table of contents

Nitrogen

Nitrogen deficiency is relatively easy to recognize. Most often, the deficiency of this component is visible on young or neglected trees, growing in grasslands or in weeds. Older leaves are small, take a chlorotic light green color, and the whole tree does not grow. The tree may even bloom profusely, but unfortunately it bears very little fruit.

Potassium

Symptoms of potassium deficiency can be observed quite often on fruit plants, because it moves very slowly in the soil. A typical symptom, apart from the inhibition of shoot growth, is necrosis of the leaves on the edge or tip side. These are very distinctive signs as the leaves look normal at first and then gradually dry out and turn brown at the margins.

Magnesium

The symptoms of magnesium deficiency are also fairly easy to recognize. Most often in the second half of summer, bright discolorations are visible on the leaves, which gradually dry up. The discoloration, however, is specific - not as in the case of potassium on the periphery, but in the center of the leaf - mostly between the veins.

Bor

A characteristic symptom of boron deficiency is the appearance of inclusions under the skin of the fruit, i.e. cork tissue. Often such fruits are deformed and fall faster.

Iron

A common symptom of iron deficiency is chlorosis of the leaves, which turns pale green or off-white, while the veins remain normal green.
