Potted flowers: Kliwia

The potted clivia flower is an ornamental green plant that blooms intensely orange in spring. It develops at the top of the shoot and blooms in February and March. Flowers may reappear in the fall. They are cup-shaped and have a slight odor. Kliwia prefers cool, sunny positions. The maximum temperature is 20 degrees Celsius. In summer, it can be taken out onto a balcony or terrace. However, he likes to have a permanent place to grow. The direction of its return to the light should always be the same.

The plant doesn't like too much water. He prefers to live in drought than to be shed. In winter, you can not water it at all. Thanks to this, it is very easy to breed. If we create good conditions for its development, it will repay it in early spring with a beautiful, orange flower.

Should the leaves of each houseplant be washed for proper care? Are there exceptions?

All potted plants need to be cleaned regularly. The treatment of leaves washing, usually associated with aesthetic reasons, is primarily important in the proper care of plants. The growing layer of dust limits the exposure of sunlight (especially in periods of less sunlight, e.g. in winter), hinders water evaporation and gas exchange, and may encourage the appearance of pests. However, not all plants like to be washed. Those that do not tolerate leaf spraying (e.g. cyclamen, zamiokulkas, sansevieria), have fluffy leaves (e.g. vultures, esheveria, mossy viviparas) or have spikes (e.g. cacti and other succulents) are dusted with a dry cloth or brush.

Potted flowers: Kalanchoe

Kalanchoe is a multi-colored indoor flower. There are varieties on the market: white, yellow, pink, lilac, red, blue and orange. You can also find two-color, larger, single or more delicate, complex flowers. The Kalanchoe looks best in the first season of life. After flowering, it has very lush stem growths. They have to be trimmed regularly. At the same time, the suckers can be easily rooted, thanks to which we will get a new flower.

The temperature at which Kalanchoe grows must exceed 12 degrees Celsius. The plant stores water in its fleshy leaves. It is enough to water it once a week. Every other week it can be strengthened with fertilizer for flowering plants. Likes a bright and sunny position.

Pot flowers: Sternberger's Chlorophytum

Green house flower - Sternberger herb is a great way to clean house air. It acts as a filter that captures microorganisms, dust and harmful substances such as: formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, acetone, xylene, benzene, heavy metals and ammonia. The plant also produces compounds that fight bacteria, fungi and protozoa.

The Herbalist of Sternberger can adapt to the conditions we create for her. It grows in sun and shade. Its roots store water, but the plant should be watered every two or three days. The water should not contain fluorine and chlorine, otherwise its green leaves will turn yellow. As a substrate, ordinary potting soil is enough. Chlorophytum grows quickly, so it should be often replanted - even twice a year. A signal that the pot is too small is the roots sticking out of its bottom.

Potted flowers: Echmea ribbon

It belongs to the pineapple family, which blooms only once, after which the entire rosette dies.New rosettes are formed at the base and need to be replanted into new pots. This can be done only after the original plant has dried.

Echmea ribbon has grooved green leaves covered with white bloom and transverse stripes. It grows at room temperature and is not demanding on lighting. You need to water the flower twice a week.
