Many shrubs bloom in spring, among them viburnum. They are so special that - in my opinion - they should not be missing in our gardens. One of the most popular isviburnumIts characteristic feature is white,spherical flowers. They resemble large pompoms. Some specimens are up to 20 cm in diameter!
In autumn the bush does not bear fruit and its leaves turn purple-red. Unfortunately, unusual flowers are often inhabited by ants, and with these pests - aphids. I try to fight them with ecological methods, but when there are more of them, I reach for chemicals.
I took the advice of Teresa Narloch ("Recipe for the Garden" 05/2010), who fights aphids with a soda solution. I have to admit that this method is quite effective.
Other viburnums bloom not only in white, but also in pink. Many of them, incl. varietiesviburnum :'Dawn' ,Burkwood ,Japanese,English ,Korean ,stiff-leavedor hordovina, grows in my pond. Apart from the aforementioned coral tree, which is already a large tree, the others are still young and require protection against frost and wind - especially the Asian varieties. I like all of them, but I like the viburnum Burkwood and the Japanese viburnum 'Popcorn' the most.
The former develops white-pink, beautifully fragrant flowers. It grows in the eyes and does not require any care treatments. In turn, the 'Popcorn' variety is very delicate and sensitive to changing weather conditions. However, it delights not only with flowers, but also with unusual leaves - strongly innervated and beautifully discolored in the fall.
I am constantly looking for new, interesting varieties of viburnum. I also encourage everyone to discover the charms of this shrub.
