Jasmine is a clinging plant, so it is led along supports on which it can (literally) take root. Among the jasmines there are evergreen species such as Jasminum polyanthum (6-8 m), shedding jasmine, such as Jasminum officinale (up to 12 m), and pseudo-evergreen (keeping leaves only in warm areas, such as Jasminum mesnyi ( up to 3 m).
Floral jasmine and herbal jasmine bloom between May and October in white to pink colors.Jasminum mesnyi blooms yellow from March to May. Evergreen jasmine Jasminum nudiflorum - November to March.
Jasmine prefers sunny places, sheltered from the wind in a permeable, humus substrate.
In spring, we feed the crops with compost. Potted plants must be fertilized (weekly) from April to September. In hot weather, we irrigate the vines regularly. After flowering, cut about half of the faded shoots to stimulate the plants for further development and flowering. In medical jasmine, only remove old and dead shoots.
Planted climbers should be buried and covered with spruce bedding before the first frosts. We overwinter pot crops in a cool, light quarters.
Jasmine and global jasmine are frost-resistant and can be grown in the ground.
World jasmine is suitable for growing in shaded places.Other species bloom poorly without good sunlight.
