Trees with a very shallow root system, such as birch trees, are not very social. Although their crowns are not very dense, translucent, they take up so much moisture from the upper soil layer that there is not enough moisture for other plants. However, we can set up discounts even under such trees.Plants are best planted at the end of August, when the roots of trees take up much less water and perennials have enough time to take root well before winter.
First, remove the weeds from the designated area and loosen the soil very carefully so as not to damage the tree roots. Mark the places with poorly rooted roots with short poles, because here shade-loving perennials will have the best conditions for vegetation. Then we sprinkle the compost or a mixture of compost and garden soil (so-called compost soil), creating a layer about 10 cm thick. The humus particles store water, providing the plants with good conditions for development.
In designated places we plant vital and strong perennials, such as 1 Hosta Funkia, 2 Pyrenean Geranium endresii, 3 Aruncus dioicus, 4 Aconitum napellus and 5 Alchemillia mollis. Before that, the pots with plants should be immersed in water so that the root balls are soaked in moisture well. Finally, cover the ground with bark mulch. Remember to water your plants abundantly when there is signs of drought. This is especially important in spring.
